up the bracket (wish i was on cally road)

after a four-day train ride were finally in irkutsk (in the middle of siberia, near lake baikal), and it feels surreal walking on solid ground again, the whole world is swaying back and forth. on the train we befriended andrei the provodnits (carriage attendant) who provided us with hot water and (relatively) clean toilet the whole 4 days, and the old lady at the restaurant car who provided us with warm meals for 4 days. from platforms along the way we bought fresh berries which tasted like the best thing ive ever eaten, yoghurt and ice cream (eva also wanted to buy a fur hat but they only sold them at one station and we missed it). i especially liked the feeling of having no time, as we went through five time zones it didnt really matter what time it was, eat sleep and drink whenever you feel like it. now were trying to get back to life after sleeping on the train station floor, and then go see lake baikal tomorrow.

a view from the train window

buying berries from a platform somewhere along the way

and this is where we lived for four days, using every possible means of spending time in a 4 sq meter compartment

after several days in the train we all started wearing head scarfs because of the terrible condition of our hair..

and now what everyones been waiting for: the train toilet!
